Mid-Year Update: A New Cape Town Region and What Comes Next
A look at the growth behind Digitel Africa this year, our new Cape Town availability zone, and where we are investing next.
When we started Digitel Africa, the pitch was simple: African businesses deserve infrastructure that is built for African networks, billed in local terms, and supported by people who understand the market. Halfway through 2026, that thesis is holding up better than we dared hope.
What has changed this year
- A second availability zone in Cape Town, live now, giving Western Cape customers a local write path.
- Managed PostgreSQL graduated out of beta and now runs production workloads for hundreds of teams.
- Support response times dropped as we grew the on-call team across two time zones.
The Cape Town region is the headline. Until now, Cape Town traffic ultimately terminated in Johannesburg. For latency-sensitive apps that extra leg was noticeable, and now it is gone for anyone who pins their workload to the new zone.

Where we are investing next
The rest of the year is about depth, not sprawl: private networking between your services, better observability out of the box, and an expanded training programme so your team can run all of this confidently. We would rather do a handful of things properly than a long list halfway.
